The 10 Questions Couples Ask Us First — And How We Make It All Stress-Free
Planning a wedding can feel like stepping onto a rollercoaster you’ve never ridden before. There’s excitement, anticipation, and — let’s be honest — a few moments of “Wait… what now?” That’s exactly why we love connecting with couples long before the wedding day arrives.
After years of capturing love stories, we’ve noticed the same ten questions pop up at the very beginning of nearly every conversation. We’re sharing them here — along with our best guidance — so you can feel confident, calm, and excited as you plan the celebration of your dreams.
Grab your favorite drink, cozy up, and let’s talk through these together!
1. How Far in Advance Should We Book?
Great wedding photography is an investment, and securing your dream team early makes all the difference. We typically book 9–18 months in advance, especially for prime seasons like spring and fall. Once you have your date and venue, reach out!
Even if your date is sooner, don’t hesitate to check! Sometimes we have a surprise opening, and we love making it work for our couples. We intentionally only book 12-15 weddings a year so we can give couples the dedicated attention the deserve, and make space for couples with a shorter engagement.
2. What’s Included in Your Packages?
Every couple’s day is unique, but we believe some essentials should always be included:
✅ Complimentary engagement session — to get you comfortable in front of the camera.
✅ Full-day wedding coverage — from getting ready to the grand exit.
✅ Unlimited edited photos — high-resolution and delivered in a beautiful online gallery.
✅ Highlight wedding film and extended film options (if you're wanting video) — because motion captures what stills can’t always say.
✅ Drone footage when possible — hello, breathtaking venue shots!
And beyond the deliverables? You get us — Paige & Kyland — your cheerleaders, timeline-builders, and friends.
3. How Do We Plan the Timeline?
This one is huge — and honestly, it’s one of our favorite ways to serve our couples well.
We don’t just show up and wing it. From your first call, we’ll help craft a wedding day timeline that flows naturally and builds in buffer time so no one feels rushed.
We’ll plan exactly when to capture each part:
Bridal details and getting ready
The first look (if you choose to have one)
Portraits with family and wedding party
Couple’s romantic portraits
Ceremony
Reception details and key moments
A beautiful send-off
Having a solid plan means you’re free to soak up every laugh, tear, and dance move without worrying about what’s next.
4. Should We Do a First Look?
This is such a personal decision — and there’s no wrong answer.
About 90% of our couples opt for a first look because it calms nerves, frees up time for more photos earlier in the day, and lets you share an intimate moment before the bustle begins. Plus, you’ll get 40% more couple portraits!
But if you’ve always dreamed of that aisle moment, that’s beautiful too. We’ll plan your timeline accordingly to ensure everything flows seamlessly, either way.
5. How Many Photos Will We Get — and When?
We don’t cap your gallery. You’ll receive every meaningful image we take and lovingly edit — often 400–1200 photos for a full wedding day. We know that is a pretty big range, but it all depends on your guest, family, and wedding party size, reception components, etc.
Turnaround time? We prioritize editing so you relive your day quickly:
Sneak peeks within two weeks
Final edited gallery within eight weeks
You’ll be able to download, share, and order prints right from your private online gallery.
6. How Do We Make Sure You Capture What’s Most Important to Us?
This is one of the best parts of getting to know you. Long before your wedding day, we’ll talk through what matters most:
Are there heirloom details you want featured?
Must-have family combinations?
A special tribute or cultural tradition?
We even send a pre-wedding questionnaire to cover every angle — so you can relax knowing nothing will be missed.
7. What If It Rains?
Texas weather (and destination weddings!) love to surprise us — but a rainy forecast doesn’t mean your day is ruined.
We scout for beautiful covered spots, bring clear umbrellas for romantic portraits, and adjust your timeline if needed. Some of our most stunning images have happened under soft drizzle or moody clouds.
A flexible mindset and a trusted team make all the difference.
8. What Should We Wear for the Engagement Session?
Your engagement shoot is like a practice run — and a super fun date night.
Our top advice? Choose outfits that feel like you but elevated — soft neutrals photograph beautifully, and coordinating (not matching) outfits look timeless.
Pro tip: bring comfortable shoes for walking between spots, a backup lip color, and an empty pocket — no phone or keys creating lumps!
If you’re unsure, send us photos! We love helping you plan this.
9. Do You Travel for Destination Weddings?
Oh, do we ever! As a husband-and-wife team, we jump at the chance to tell love stories anywhere they unfold.
Destination weddings often mean flexible packages — sometimes at special rates if your location aligns with our bucket list. If you’re planning a wedding somewhere dreamy, let’s chat early and craft an experience that works for your unique adventure.
10. How Do We Book You?
The easiest and best step is to schedule a consultation call.
We’ll chat about your vision, walk through your unique needs, answer any lingering questions, and get you officially on our calendar.
We take on a limited number of weddings each year so we can give each couple our very best. So, if your date is set — don’t wait too long!
